BRAKE LINING, CLOSE TO ROLLER ASSY

A brake lining is the friction material bonded or riveted to a brake shoe or band.

It provides the wearing surface that presses against the drum to create braking friction, and is replaced when worn to a minimum thickness.

Linings are used on drum-brake shoes. Because braking is safety critical, linings are checked on schedule and renewed by a qualified technician.
