STARTER MOTOR

A starter motor is the electric motor that cranks the engine to start it.

When the key is turned, it draws heavy current from the battery to spin the flywheel ring gear until the engine fires, then disengages.

The starter is mounted on the engine at the flywheel housing. The correct starter matches the engine and electrical system; faults are best diagnosed by a qualified technician.
