A steering knuckle is the forged part at the end of the axle that carries the wheel hub and pivots to steer the wheel.
It turns on the king pin or ball joints, carrying the hub, bearings, and often the brake, so the wheel can steer while bearing the axle load.
Knuckles sit at each end of the steered axle. Because they are central to steering, work on them belongs to a qualified technician.
