Steering rod

A steering rod (link) is a rod that transfers movement from the steering box to the wheels so the vehicle can be steered.

As the driver turns the wheel, the rods and their joints push and pull to swivel the road wheels together; precise, play-free joints keep steering accurate.

Steering rods connect the steering box, idler, and wheel arms at the front axle. Because steering is safety critical, worn rods or joints should be inspected and replaced by a qualified technician.
