ブレーキディスク(ローター)は、ブレーキパッドが挟んで車輪を減速させる金属円板です。
パッドが回るディスクを押すと、摩擦が車両の運動を熱に変え、ディスクがこれを放熱します。商用車のディスクは高荷重と繰り返し制動のため大きく耐熱性です。
車輪にディスクブレーキの一部として取り付けられます。制動は安全直結のため、ディスクとパッドは定期点検し、整備士が車軸単位で交換します。
